After the paper was glued to the veneer I was able to cut out the shape using a template.

Turning MDF

Turning a form out of MDF.
I had to rig up the wood lathe to turn this form out of a 10″x14″ chunk of MDF. The logs on the back of the lathe are there to add weight, reducing the vibration in the initial turning phase. I used a support stand as my tool rest. It was a little daunting at first. But once I got the speed under control it cam out quite nicely.
